OCC Updates; Paul Jr. Building New Shop, Rick Petko Leaves and More

According to Paul Jr., he is in the process of building a new shop. Last we saw on T.V, Paul and his fiancé were debating what to do with the building they had, most likely using it for an office. This photo shows what appears to be a different building with storage racks, lift, trailer and more. Another image says “Paul Jr. Designs Motorcycles coming soon” so one can safely assume he is going to return to building bikes. His website at http://www.pauljrdesigns.com/ also promises that “the wait is almost over”.

A lot of speculation exists as to where he is going and whether this is all part of the scripted reality show that was “American Chopper” on TLC which was cancelled. If not for anything else, this should be interesting to watch. Paul Jr. had great ideas but he was portrayed on television as having a horrible work ethic. Word on the street is that Rick Petko may have also left and started his own company. His Facebook post simply states “Rick Petko says finally as of 3-1-10 my own bike shop is official... RPD & Co. ...time to hit some shows !!”. It’s a shame that they could not combine the talent using Rick and Vinnie. Both seem like very talented workhorses and could have made for an interesting new show.

Sadly, the motorcycle industry is hurting and having all these guys fracture into so many new companies does not seem promising. Of course, we have the root of all of this, Orange County Choppers and they seem to be plugging along. They do have a nice list of events on their website at http://www.orangecountychoppers.com/ for this summer including some great charity events. Kudos for that.

If not for anything else, it should be fun and interesting watching this all play out online or on television. Stay tuned to PedalToTheMetal for updates on all the drama as it unfolds.

[UPDATE With Spoiler:] Pedal To The Metal just found out that Paul Jr. showed up at Sturgis, 2010. Did he bring a motorcycle with him? If you want to find out, read the story: Paul Jr. Designs at Sturgis 2010 [Spoiler], otherwise run away.

I own a small "family " business . I wish Sr. and Jr. could figure out how important FAMILY really is. The show was way better when they were all together . Its really a sad situation. Wish um all the best . They have really gotten me interested in CHOPPERS; even to the point of considering buying one as a first timer.

Trust me, I owned a couple choppers, for example American Ironhorse. They tend to be design over function and are great for short hops, but not so much for long rides, etc. Buy a Harley or a Cruiser first, build a chopper later :)

Jr ,vine, mike,I owned a fab and repair business for 18 hrs only had 20 plus employees at max but remember the sets and hassles well! Also worked in my fathers firm and it was hard but I would NEVER let it come between the love and family bond. If the tv show is at all accurate of your fathers attitude I feel for you.I now own a heavy haul transport company and am often laid up waiting to cross the new burg bridge and waiting for days-weeks on ct permits. If you ever need anything transported or any free skilled labor (now and then) I would love to help.Vinnie seems like a solid good guy he reminds me so much of a great guy that worked for me for many years he too was a he'll of a tech and fabricator.I wish you all the best and would love to see you kick your fathers a-- ( in business) . Email if we can help and what range I would be for a mild custom.(was thinking of an occ bike but if sr's attitude is real I just can't spend $ there anymore. Thanks and god bless ps you are doing the rite thing DONT give up!!!

Paul Jr.,

Life is too short to dwell on the past. Forgive and forget, go on to something new, but love your Dad, he's all you have. I lost my Dad when I was eight years old. Besides, he loves you as well. Keep smiling!!! Prayer always works for me. I'd like to be your friend. Jesus loves you too.
