Okanagan gangster to serve 44 years in Seattle jail

A former Peachland, B.C. resident who robbed a Tacoma bank with an AK-47 so he could set up a gang to rival the Hell’s Angels has been handed another 20 years in jail.

Quote from the article:

Luke Elliott Sommer, 23, formerly a resident of Peachland and a holder of joint Canadian-U.S. citizenship, was already serving 24 years in prison for masterminding a Bank of America robbery in 2008 using a total of five men, machine guns and hand grenades. His team got away with $50,000 during the heist but a passerby noted down the licence plate of the getaway vehicle and he was caught.

Sommer told associates he was going to use the money from the bank robbery to set up a B.C. gang to rival the Hell’s Angels, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office in Seattle.
