One of the worlds oldest motorcycles up for auction - got $70, or $90k?

The 1894 Hildebrand & Wolfmuller motorcycle is so rare that the few in existence are housed in museums in London, Germany and Detroit -- and apparently, a basement in Staten Island.
After spending four decades collecting dust -- and value -- in Bill "Pop" McNee's Port Richmond home, the "the holy grail of motorcycles" will be auctioned in England by Bonhams on Sunday for an estimated $60,000 to $90,000

Quote from the article:
"This bike is, without a doubt, the find of the century," Ben Walker, the auction house's motorcycle specialist told the Post. "There hasn't been one of these offered in the last 30 years."

McNee, who died in 2007, fell in love with the bike as a pre-teen in the 1930s while watching his grandfather, Bill Brassington, ride it up and down Palmer Avenue, relatives said.

Brassington promised McNee the Wolfmuller would one day be his. But when he died in 1970, McNee's mother sold it and a Model T Ford to a neighbor for $500.

"She came to the house to share the proceeds, and said, 'Well I found some sucker to take it off our hands,' " son-in-law Gehrig Dilgard said.
