National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigators Tuesday began removing the wreckage of a plane that crashed into a Belleville home. Interestingly enough, they had flown out of Vero Beach, just minutes from us.

Quote from the article:
| John Brannen, Senior Air Safety Investigator of the NTSB said the plane would be removed to a warehouse in Wentzville for closer inspection by investigators. The crash Sunday in the Aero Estates subdivision in Belleville killed Donald Estell, 65, of Clayton, Missouri and Robert Clarkson, 68, of Belleville, Illinois. The two were returning from Vero Beach, Florida and attempting to land at Downtown St. Louis Airport, near Sauget, around 6:30 p.m. Brannen said it was too soon to determine if Sunday’s bad weather conditions played a role in the crash, and added it could take six months before the NTSB could make a determination. Meanwhile, many who knew the men remembered them fondly. Bob McDaniel, director of the Downtown St. Louis Airport, knew both men and called the incident a tragic loss. |
