Plane Crazy: Why consumers suck
This banner of a Home Depot store with an airport next to it and an airplane, that appears to be about to crash into the store, was snapped at a Home Depot store in Farmingdale, NY.

Don’t get me wrong, I see where it can be interpreted as the plane getting ready to crash into the Home Depot and I understand the 9-11 issues as well, but it’s the whiny response that you would expect from a 6 year old that really pisses me off:

Really, now? You're IN THE STORE, took the time to snap the picture and didn’t bother to talk to an employee or a manager and point this out? Instead, you decide to go home, upload the picture on the internet and threaten to send this to Consumerist and never shop at Home Depot again? It just seems like pointing this out would have been faster and gotten this removed quicker without subjecting other Farmingdale residents to the banner that you are so concerned about. It is now on Fark and hundreds of other websites so everyone in Farmingdale, NY and beyond can now see the banner even though they were nowhere near this store. Nice job. Looking for a free gift card?
Let me explain “tasteless” for you in this situation. Oh, wait I think I just did.
Naturally, Home Depot corporate (yes, it got that far) responded and it has been removed. This fails along the lines of the PMRC and that lady who tried to get "Married With Children" off the air. You wanted attention? Congratulations. This image now on the internet forever as opposed to quietly removed.

Hey I was just in your Farmingdale, NY store which sits right next to Republic Airport...any reason why your store would have such a tasteful banner displayed of what looks like a passenger jet with flames from its tail nose diving into the very same Home Depot? Rather tasteless IMO.... Oh btw...now I'll never step foot into one of your stores again and this will be sent to the Consumerist. |
