Qualifying is in the books
Top Fuel, session three (1:10 p.m.): Larry Dixon shot to the top of the charts with a 3.844 blast, bumping Friday leader Antron Brown, who did not improve, down to second. Brandon Bernstein posted the second-best time of the round with a 3.852 that moved him around Doug Herbert, who ran 3.852 on Friday but lost the speed tiebreaker, 315.81 to 312.06. Spencer Massey was the third-best driver in this session with a 3.860 that moved him from seventh to sixth in the order.
Funny Car, session three (1:45 p.m.): Cruz Pedregon remained No. 1, but his brother, Tony, was the star of the third session. T-Ped ran a 4.099 to jump from 11th to third on the sheets. Ashley Force Hood had the next-best time of the round, a 4.109 that bettered her 4.11 from yesterday; she sits fourth. Del Worsham's 4.119 was the third-best time of the round and moved him up one spot, from seventh to sixth. John Force and Jack Beckman also improved from yesterday, both posting 4.121s to nab the seventh and eighth spots, respectively, heading into the final session later today.
Event delayed (2:30 p.m.): Dan Fiorelli, the first Top Alcohol Dragster to take to the track, went into the sand and hit the net, causing damage to it. Right now, the Safety Safari is up in the trap working on repairing things, and estimates are it will take about 45 minutes to fix everything. The plan right now calls for Top Alcohol Funny Car to hit the track once the repairs are done, then it's back to the Pros. TAD's final qualifying session has been cancelled, and the field is now set for first round, which is slated for later today.
And, we're back (3 p.m.): The repairs on the top end are complete, and the first pair of Top Alcohol Funny Cars have just fired up.
Pro Stock Motorcycle, session four (3:50 p.m.): Shawn Gann once again paced the two-wheel contingent, posting a session-best 7.016. Andrew Hines racked up another two points when he ran 7.020, and points leader Eddie Krawiec earned his first qualifying bonus points when he clocked a third-best 7.024. Arana, who ran a 7.06, stayed No. 1.
Pro Stock, session four (4:25 p.m.): Mike Edwards absolutely crushed the Pro Stock field with a 6.616 that was the second-best time of the weekend, bettered only by the 6.614 that earned Edwards the pole yesterday. Tom Hammonds was second-quickest of the session with a 6.665, and Kurt Johnson was the third-best competitor with a 6.673.
Top Fuel, session four (5:30 p.m.): Larry Dixon's 3.844 remained untouched in the final session, giving him his fifth No. 1 start of the year. Tony Schumacher was best of the final session with a 3.848. Morgan Lucas was second-best with a 3.866, and Spencer Massey was third-quickest with a 3.871.
