The 47-year-old's condition was caused following brain injuries sustained in two road accidents. She can recall everything up to 1994 but since then everything that happens on one day is forgotten the next. Her case echoes 50 First Dates, the 2004 movie in which Adam Sandler attempts to woo Drew Barrymore who has no day-to-day memory following a car crash. Ian proposed to Michelle just three months after they met in 1985. But the couple had to wait another 12 years before they finally got hitched. He said: 'I wanted to marry her when I first met her. But because of the crashes and the seizures it took quite a few years before I finally got her down the aisle.' Michelle said: 'I know I am married to Ian but don't ask me too many questions. 'I remember I had a wedding but cannot tell you who was there and I have no recollection of the reception.' It is not just loved ones Mrs Philpots struggles with. She uses hundreds of Post-It notes and reminders on her mobile phone's calendar to keep her informed of appointments and other everyday duties. |
