Record demand for Silverstone tickets for 2010
Silverstone has experienced record ticket sales since securing the British Grand Prix on a 17-year deal from 2010 on Monday, circuit organisers have announced.
The Northamptonshire circuit revealed it had already sold just under 6,500 tickets for next July’s race within 24 hours of them going on sale, with the sales bringing in more than £1.2 million in revenue.
Silverstone managing director Richard Phillips admitted the circuit had been thrilled by the interest from fans so far.
“We have been overwhelmed by the early level of interest for tickets for next year’s event – we’re very fortunate that Silverstone and F1 enjoy fantastic support from the fans,” Phillips said.
“With two world champions, a British team and a British Grand Prix secured for the long term, there is a lot to be optimistic about.
“We’re committed to delivering a fantastic experience for the fans, offering real value for money, with an array of on and off-track entertainment.
“With MotoGP and F1 at Silverstone next year, we’re looking forward to a busy and exciting year.”
