Renault to shock Frankfurt with four EVs

Renault has released a teaser picture of the range of four electric vehicles it will unveil next week at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The French carmaker is going to keep us guessing about details until its press conference at the show, but the picture is intriguing. It shows four cars of differing sizes, from a one-seat personal mobility option to what looks like a full-blown MPV – something that Renault knows a fair bit about.

In terms of the electric technology powering the car, we expect there to be a number of elements in common with the Nissan Leaf, as the Japanese company is involved in an alliance with Renault. This means that lithium ion batteries that can be charged quickly are likely to be involved.

We also expect Renault to pitch the cars at an affordable price when they go on sale to the public, which will probably happen around 2012.
