With the Gulf of Mexico oil spill in April, expected gas prices for the summer of 2010 are on average 48 cents higher than 2009, according to government projections. AutoPartsDealer.com, an online aftermarket performance parts retailer, has recorded the highest sales numbers yet for fuel-efficient products.
“The great thing about this drive for better fuel economy is that it also benefits the environment,” McWherter said. “We like to stock products that are priced low for the customer, but good for the car and environment. From lightweight wheels to lowering kits and everything in between, we have a lot of solutions you might not have considered before.”
President Obama on Friday announced a proposal preparing a drive for better fuel economy on car models years 2017 and later. For cars on the market now, AutoPartsDealer.com recommends Borla exhaust systems and K&N air filters.
“Gas prices are headed up, so our selection of filters and exhaust systems come just in time,” McWherter said. “You can do your part for the environment, and it helps out your wallet at the same time.”
