San Diego Braces for Muscle Car Fever
With the first day of summer fast approaching, muscle car fever is set to hit Southern California as RM Auctions drops the hammer on a stellar selection of Detroit muscle and modern performance vehicles during a single-day auction in San Diego, CA.
Having captured the attention of muscle car enthusiasts worldwide, the June 19 sale presents over 100 vehicles 'without reserve', many from a private Southern California collection. Considered one of America's premier muscle car collections, it spans a variety of iconic American muscle along with modern performance vehicles.
In total, the single-day sale will offer some 27 Pontiacs, including 17 GTOs, 26 Corvettes, seven Chevelles, six Mustangs, five 442 Convertibles and three Camaro Z/28s, along with an impressive assortment of late-model AMG Mercedes-Benz, M-Power BMWs and a Ford GT.

The sale has recently expanded to include a series of cars from the personal collection of the renowned 'Godfather of the GTO', Jim Wangers. A lifelong enthusiast, Wangers is well-known in the automotive world as the legendary 'ad man' for Pontiac and the marketer behind America's original muscle car, the unmistakable and iconic Pontiac GTO, along with several other Pontiac specialty cars. An all-powerful 1969 Firebird Trans Am, and a virtually new 1979 Firebird Trans Am 10th Anniversary Special Edition, driven by Kid Rock in the hit comedy film Joe Dirt, are two of four cars consigned from Jim Wangers' anniversary Trans Am collection.
