A man led deputies on a winding chase this morning through a gated community and a golf course before deputies forced his Jeep into a row of shrubs, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said.

It was the third time in two days that Issa M. Alyan, 54, led authorities on a pursuit, the sheriff's office said. On Friday night a deputy found Alyan found with a woman in a secluded area off Sawyer Loop Road and asked him for identification, the sheriff's office said. With both Alyan and the woman outside Alyan's green Jeep, the deputy began questioning the woman, but Alyan ran back to the Jeep, got in, thrust it into drive and took off, the sheriff's office said. The investigating deputy had to jump out of the way to avoid getting struck, but he knew who the driver was because Alyan had left his license with the deputy, the sheriff's office said. There was a short pursuit, but then a sheriff's supervisor called it off. Authorities discovered there was an outstanding warrant charging Alyan with violating his probation meted out in connection with a 2009 domestic violence charge made last year. Less than an hour later, deputies spotted Alyan's green Jeep, and another short pursuit commenced before a supervisor called it off, the sheriff's office said. Then, this morning, the Jeep was spotted for the third time in the vicinity of Alyan's home, the sheriff's office said. Alyan led deputies on a pursuit along State Road 72 and Bee Ridge Road Extension. He then drove into Heritage Oaks, a gated community, and struck the gates, snapping them off the mechanisms that open and close them, the sheriff's office said. |
