SC closes interstate rest areas to save money
The South Carolina Transportation Department is closing four interstate rest areas to save money.
The department say some of the rest areas closed Wednesday are old and in bad condition. Others are near truck stops and restaurants which offer rest rooms and other services for travelers.
The department is closing two rest areas on Interstate 95 at mile marker 171 in Florence County. A rest area at mile marker 89 on Interstate 85 in Cherokee County is closing, as is the rest area on I-26 at mile marker 202 in Berkeley County.
