Screamin' Eagle/Vance & Hines rider takes Harley V-Rod to semi-finals at gateway

Screamin' Eagle®/Vance & Hines rider Eddie Krawiec rode a Screamin' Eagle Harley-Davidson® V-Rod® to the semi-final round of Pro Stock Motorcycle eliminations at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway International Raceway. The event was won by Racers Edge Suzuki rider Michael Phillips.

Screamin' Eagle®/Vance & Hines rider Andrew Hines qualified second for Sunday eliminations with a elapsed time (ET) of 6.937 seconds. Krawiec qualified seventh at 6.968 seconds. Lucas Oil Buell rider Hector Arana posted a 6.905 ET to lead all qualifiers.

In the opening round of eliminations on Sunday, Hines was one of five riders to foul at the starting line. Hines left just 0.003 seconds early to hand a win to Suzuki rider L.E. Tonglet.

"My bike was set up to react too soon this weekend," said Hines. "I had a couple of red lights in qualifying, too. We tried to change a few things but it didn't work. I also think the tree here is a little tight. There were also some red lights in Pro Stock cars. The Screamin' Eagle team is going to stay over and test with my bike on Monday to find a better set-up."

Krawiec was on the receiving end of a red-light start in round one, when Suzuki rider Steve Johnson fouled to give an automatic win to the Screamin' Eagle rider. In round two, Krawiec (0.028 reaction time/6.979 ET) defeated Valvoline Suzuki rider Craig Treble (0.008/7.058). In the semi-finals, Krawiec had his best run of the weekend (0.033/6.958), but it was not enough to defeat Phillips, who ran 0.016/6.994.

"I think if we make it to the semi-finals it was a good weekend," said Krawiec. "I bogged a little at the line in the semi-final, and I think I might have been able to run a 6.93 with a better start, but it still would have been a close race. My Screamin' Eagle V-Rod is really strong and I'm racing with confidence right now."

Following four rounds of the 17-race 2010 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle schedule, Arana leads in points with 366. Krawiec is second with 318, followed by Al-Anabi Racing Buell rider Matt Smith with 296 points, Phillips with 275 points, and Hines in fifth place with 252 points.

The next Pro Stock Motorcycle event on the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series schedule is the Summit Racing Engineering NHRA Southern Nationals, May 14-16, at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Ga.
