Stop/start Focus Econetic delivers 74.2mpg - Latest Car News from 4Car
Ford's next-generation Focus Econetic promises an impressive average fuel economy of 74.2mpg thanks to extra fuel-saving technologies. The new Econetic Focus is available with a new optional Ford Auto-Start-Stop system that was previewed on the Ford iosis MAX Concept at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show.

It also features brake energy regeneration and it is the first vehicle to have the new Ford Eco Mode system as standard. This all-new information system helps to educate the driver to keep fuel consumption to a minimum.
It monitors gear shifting, anticipation (driving as consistently and smoothly as possible) and motorway driving (driving with the most efficient speed on motorways and country roads). In addition the system considers the percentage of cold-engine short trips.
Dr. Thilo Seibert, Manager CO2 Technologies for Ford of Europe, said: 'Ford Eco Mode really helps you to become an eco-driver. We have been amazed by the positive feedback on the system by customers in early tests. Customers have told us that they actively enjoyed exploring a new and very contemporary discipline: saving fuel.'
Under the bonnet is a 107bhp 1.6-litre diesel engine. With stop/start CO2 emissions are 99g/km and 104g/km without. The Econetic also uses low viscosity oil and low rolling resistance tyres to make it more efficient. The car also features Ford's Low Tension FEAD (Front End Accessory Drive).
