Streambank Announces American IronHorse Motorcycles Intellectual Property Sale, Nothing New?

I am always interested in this company having owned an American Ironhorse Slammer and currently riding an American Ironhorse Outlaw (see photo), I have long since been a big fan of their motorcycles. They are sexy as a custom gets and when you consider price tags in the 30k range new, not horribly priced for what you get. After all, many of the "big name" customs will charge you 50,60, 70k or more for a poorly engineered motorcycle. I hope someone picks this company up and runs with it, but given the state of the economy and loss of interest in expensive motorcycles, I fear this company is a dead horse. Pardon the pun. I remain amazed that someone has not stepped in to try and steal this companies assets for a great price and start a high quality, low startup priced motorcycle company. One can dream.... Press release follows which claims the intent of selling all company assets by January of 2010 meaning apparently no buyers have stepped up. Anyone got a few million and some ambition?

Quote from the article:

Needham, MA – November 10, 2009 - Streambank, LLC, an advisory firm specializing in the sale of intangible assets, today announced that the intangible assets of American IronHorse Motorcycles, the Fort Worth, TX-based volume manufacturer of V-twin motorcycles, are for sale. Streambank will be marketing the assets through the end of the year and plans on completing a sale in January 2010.
The assets for sale include all trademarks, including but not limited to, American IronHorse, Texas Chopper, Slammer, Legend, Tejas and Outlaw model names. Also for sale will be the URLs, patents, and all available proprietary motorcycle and parts designs. The company’s data containing contact and valuable demographic information will be available as well.

Founded in 1995, American IronHorse grew to become one of the most respected brands in the industry and carries a history of innovation and trend setting design. From its 224,000 square foot facility, American IronHorse produced up to 240 motorcycles a month during the firm’s peak years of 2004 and 2005. The company was also awarded a U.S. patent for its innovative gas tank design on the Texas Chopper, and the Slammer model won the prestigious “Bike of the Year” honors at the 2007 V-Twin Expo industry trade show awards. The company’s innovative wheel designs and patents are included in the sale. American IronHorse also offered a diverse line of merchandise as well as men’s and women’s apparel.

“With its iconic horse head logo, consumers were drawn to American IronHorse not only for high performance motorcycles, but also to be a part of its culture,” said Margaret Birlem, a Partner with Streambank LLC. “The brand holds an important place in American motorcycling and there are thousands of American IronHorse models on the road today.”
