Top Gear joined by Village People after being accused of homophobia
The Top Gear team were joined by the "Village People" on Sunday night - after the show was accused of being homophobic.
Hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond insisted "everyone was welcome" - even though every ticket booking must be 50% male and 50% female.
Gay charity Stonewall said the booking system barred homosexual couples from attending by themselves.
So programme chiefs on the BBC2 show hired four men to dress up as the Village People, the outrageously camp pop outfit from the 70s.
Clarkson leered: "The truth is, we welcome homosexual couples. We particularly like the lesbian sort.
"I saw a film about lesbians on the internet once. It looked very interesting."
Last week we reported how one angry gay fan had been told he could not attend a recording with his partner unless they were accompanied by TWO female friends.
