| Lopez, who turns 27 in April, won the championship in Argentina's TC 2000 touring car championship in 2008 and 2009. He was tipped to be a driver for US F1 in November, provided he could assemble a sponsorship package. In early 2007 Lopez ran in the American Le Mans Series, driving a Ferrari 430 GT for Corsa Motorsports in the Sebring 12-hour race and for Risi Competizione at St. Petersburg.
