Former Subaru works team driver Chris Atkinson is working on a bid to return to the World Rally Championship next year and has restated his aim of one day becoming World Champion.
Like Petter Solberg, Atkinson, 29, was left out in the cold when Subaru pulled its WRC programme late last year. Unlike Solberg, however, the Australian has been absent from most of the 2009 series, tackling only the first round, Rally Ireland, as part of the Citroen Junior Team.
