WSR gets pinked
Wilson Security Racing (WSR) enduro driver, Leanne Tander, and former cricketer Glenn McGrath this morning unveiled the new pink Team McGrath Falcons, which will debut at Bathurst next month.
Team McGrath is the result of a friendship between WSR and the McGrath Foundation, creating something new and unique within the motorsport community.
McGrath formed the foundation with his wife Jane before she lost her battle with breast cancer. The colour pink is synonymous with the foundation, which supports women diagnosed with breast cancer and their families.
Wilson Security Racing’s cars, drivers and crew have been transformed with the McGrath Foundation’s logo and the hot pink colour to ‘drive’ a fresh conversation within the community around the importance of breast cancer awareness among young women and the invaluable role McGrath Breast Care Nurses play in providing support for families experiencing breast cancer.
Tander is the sole female driver in the V8 Supercar field this year and said she was proud to support the McGrath Foundation as a driver for Team McGrath.
“Over 40 per cent of all V8 Supercar fans are female and I can see the number of females interested in the sport growing through the ranks, both behind the scenes and on the track,” she said.
“It is a very exciting time to be a part of the Wilson Security Racing team, and be partnering with the McGrath Foundation.
“Anything we can do within V8 Supercars to support the communities that come out and support us provides a positive experience.”
Tander might be the only female driver in the field, but fellow WSR drivers Fabian Coulthard, Michael Patrizi and David Wall are all backing the initiative.
