Yamaha Recalls 20,000 Grizzly ATVs to Fix Steering
Yamaha Motor Co. will recall about 20,000 Grizzly all-terrain vehicles in the U.S. because the steering column-support assembly can crack and cause the rider to lose control, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

The flaw poses a risk of injury or death, and consumers should stop using the ATVs immediately, the commission said in a statement today. The Japanese company, the world’s second- largest motorcycle maker after Honda Motor Co., has received 19 complaints about the problem, while no injuries have been reported, the agency said. The recall covers Grizzly 550 and 700 models sold from October 2007 through March 2010, with prices ranging from $7,000 to $9,500, according to the statement. Local Yamaha dealers will repair the vehicles for free, and registered owners have been mailed notifications, the CPSC said. |
