Chrysler Responds to Claims By Tesla Motors - Short Memory or Short-Circuit?
Posted by: Timothy Tibbetts on: 05/22/2013 09:35 PM in Automotive
Chrysler has responded to Tesla on their blog:
"On May 22, 2013, Tesla, a California-based EV manufacturer, said it has repaid a DoE loan adding: “Tesla will be the only American car company to have fully repaid the government.”
The information is unmistakably incorrect. It’s pretty well-known that almost exactly two years ago – May 24, 2011 – Chrysler Group LLC repaid (in full and with interest) U.S. and Canadian government loans more than six years ahead of schedule.
Question: short memory or short-circuit?"

Tesla Motors announced that it has paid off the entire loan awarded to the company by the Department of Energy in 2010. In addition to payments made in 2012 and Q1 2013, today’s wire of almost half a billion dollars ($451.8M) repays the full loan facility with interest. Following this payment, Tesla will be the only American car company to have fully repaid the government.

Airplanes: To fart or not to fart: that is the question

Smelly farts on airplanes: we’ve all been there, either as the producer or the consumer (or often both). Unfortunately, little attention has been paid in the literature to this all-too-common phenomenon…until now. We can’t tell whether these authors are being totally serious or not, but either way, we think their suggestion for how to deal with the issue of smelly farts on airplanes is a pretty good one.

Watch this F-35A recover from stalls

The latest in a series of Lockheed Martin [LMT] F-35A high angle of attack (AOA) testing was recently completed. The testing accomplished high AOA beyond both the positive and negative maximum command limits, including intentionally putting the aircraft out of control in several configurations. This included initially flying in the stealth clean wing configuration. It was followed by testing with external air-to-air pylons and missiles and then with open weapon bay doors. The F-35A began edge-of-the-envelope high AOA testing in the Fall 2012. For all testing, recovery from out of control flight has been 100 percent successful without the use of the spin recovery chute, which is carried to maximize safety.

The "Helping Sea Turtles Survive" plate, which typically battles with FSU for the No. 2 spot, brought in more than $1.4 million from its 62,500 buyers in 2012. So far, it's promised more than $311,000 in grants for the next fiscal year, mostly to university researchers studying sea turtles.

Burglar trashes home, grabs a beer during chase, police say

Stopping to steal beer while running away from cops may sound silly, but this is South Florida.
The illegal beer run occurred early Sunday morning after a burglary suspect was allegedly caught in the middle of looting a Lighthouse Point home and trashing it with mustard and illegible scribblings, police said.
The police chase ended with Andrew Fatzinger, 21, of Port St. Lucie, taken to a hospital after tussling with a police K-9, authorities said.
