Googly Eyes Helmet Makes Watching Practice Laps Fun

Posted by: Timothy Tibbetts on: 04/26/2015 09:20 AM in Automotive

Mike Hedlund uploaded a video during a practice session for the Pirelli World Challenge race at Long Beach but that's not what caught my eye. Check out the helmet. Fun little indicator of g-force, wouldn't you agree? Stick around for 1:20 when he drops the visor.

Dodge Viper Vs Charger Hellcat Vs Challenger Hellcat - Onroad And Offroad Plus A Dog

Posted by: Timothy Tibbetts on: 04/26/2015 09:09 AM in Automotive

Roadkill is now powered by Dodge! To kick off the sponsorship, Finnegan and Freiburger called for some brand new 2015 supercars: the 707-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and Charger SRT Hellcat, plus a 645-horsepower Dodge Viper GT. Why? For an epic thrash, of course! This video has more tire smoke than you've ever seen from these cars, plus a big, irresponsible surprise at a motocross track. There are guest spots from Carlos Lago from Motor Trend, Fred Williams from Dirt Every Day, and pro drifter Tony Angelo. None of these guys should have been handed the keys. And by the way, we used the Hellcat red keys the whole time.

Dash Cam Catches Mechanic Doing 98 MPH

Posted by: Timothy Tibbetts on: 04/26/2015 03:12 AM in Automotive

Drew spent about @2,000 getting his 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT fixed only to watch the dash cam video later and see his car being taken for a harsh joyride up to 96 MPH. He now says the car is leaking oil where the pan meets the block. Check out the dash cam footage below. Jump to 6 minutes to see where the car gets ringed out.

Snow Biking in Idaho Backcountry

Posted by: Timothy Tibbetts on: 04/26/2015 12:43 AM in Motorcycles

It's not snowmobiling, and it's definitely not motocross. It's called snow biking, and it might be one of the coolest up-and-coming sports out there. The concept is fairly simple: take a regular motocross bike, slap on a snow mobile track and a front ski instead of wheels, and voilá...you've got a snow bike. To check out this new sport, pro freestyle motocross rider Ronnie Renner set out to test out the bike himself in some fresh Idaho powder. Needless to say, we think they're definitely onto the next big thing. Check out some top moments from their session!

Ford Sets World Record for Biggest Hot Wheels Car Track Loop

Posted by: Timothy Tibbetts on: 04/25/2015 12:29 PM in Automotive

Ford ran circles around the old Hot Wheels® record loop as part of this year's Take Your Child to Work Day. When the effort was complete, Ford had made a world record attempt with a Hot Wheels car track loop that exceeded 12 feet tall.

The world record attempt was the brainchild of Ford dynamometer technician Matt West, who had built increasingly large Hot Wheels loops with his six-year-old son Blade at their home in Monroe, Michigan.

The attempt took place in the three-story atrium of the company's Research and Innovation Center in Dearborn in support of Ford's participation in national Take Your Child to Work Day.

Posted by: Timothy Tibbetts on: 04/25/2015 11:41 AM in Air

Red Bull Stratos, a mission to the edge of space, will attempt to transcend human limits that have existed for 50 years. Supported by a team of experts Felix Baumgartner plans to ascend to 120,000 feet in a stratospheric balloon and make a freefall jump rushing toward earth at supersonic speeds before parachuting to the ground. His attempt to dare atmospheric limits holds the potential to provide valuable medical and scientific research data for future pioneers.

Pedal To The Metal Changes Gears

Posted by: Timothy Tibbetts on: 04/25/2015 10:55 AM in Everything Else

As you might have noticed, as of April 25th 2015 all site content has been removed. PedalToTheMetal.Com has been through many changes over the years. Here’s how we got here.

I am a major fan of anything that has a motor or moves you. I’ve owned countless cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATV’s, jet skis, boats, bicycles and even a Segway. I’ve had the pleasure of driving supercars, exotics and even a hovercraft. And I love them all. So, how to share this passion for such a wide range of toys? I spotted this domain for sale back around 2009 and made a lowball offer of half what was being asked and it was accepted! So, I have the domain; now what?

Originally it was automotive and motorcycle news but we found that market was massively oversaturated and well covered. We couldn’t bring anything to the table and it felt like a second full time job. So, that didn’t last long.

So we decided to post pictures of different transportation that we found funny and we did pretty well at it and had some fun but we hit a couple of problems. First, while it wasn’t horrible as a site, it simply just lacked any real depth. Oh and Google hated us for the content and blacklisted us. We’re not in it to get rich but we like to cover our server costs.

So here we are starting in 2015. I am in Florida having a cold, frosty drink on the ocean and over a couple of weeks I spotted parasailers, people using jet boots and other sports and I noticed something; everyone stopped and watched along with me. So, my goal here is to find videos, photos and stories of people playing with unique vehicles or extreme sports. We think it’s different and we hope you enjoy your time here. If you do, be sure to hit us up on social media. We don't spam like crazy and would appreciate your support.

Bear with us as we rebuild!
