How depressing. You are traveling in an airport and the person in front of you drops their wedding and engagement rings. It takes a “special” person to pick them up and pocket them. I would immediately hand them over and even if I was a scumbag like this lady, I would realize that there are cameras everywhere, especially an airport. We suspect this lady will be arrested before the weekend begins. Here are the details from the Broward sheriff’s office:
When a traveler at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport realized that she had lost her diamond engagement and wedding rings, she immediately began searching around the TSA security checkpoint where she had taken them off. Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives have released surveillance photos of the thief they believe picked up the rings from the floor and hid them, saying nothing while the frantic owner searched for them. The theft happened shortly after 10 p.m. Dec. 9 in Terminal 4 of the airport.
Detectives say the suspect was dropped off at the airport by someone driving a red Toyota Rav 4. She has long, dark hair and was carrying a large, red shoulder bag and a beige handbag. She wore jeans with high-heeled, brown boots and a printed top. Surveillance photos show her stooping to pick something – presumably, the missing rings – off the floor, as well as the distraught victim searching for the rings as the suspect stands impassively nearby.
Anyone who can identify this woman is asked to contact BSO Det. Jon Korman at (954) 359-1243 or report information anonymously to (954) 493-TIPS (8477) or online at
