A lot of year end news is coming about how all the car companies did but that’s a tad boring. Cars.com however, has a list of the top 10 best-selling cars of 2012. So, who do you think made it? Everyone is talking about fuel efficiency so I bet you think the small cars, hybrids or plug-ins? You're close.

Not quite. #1 and #2 both go to the Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado. #8 goes to the Ram trucks.The other 7 spots do indeed go to more efficient cars but #1 and #2 total around 1 million trucks and that is almost as many as #2-6. Obviously we can discount many of these trucks bought for commercial use so the numbers are not as simple as they seem. The big difference shows in the percentage changes. The F150 did climb 10% but the Silverado barely moved any. Looking at the fuel efficient cars shows larger gains, often well over 20% increases. The oddball is the Ram trucks with a 19.9% increase in sales.
