A Merced police officer was helping a stopped vehicle Thursday night when a passing Jeep struck his patrol car and drove off, according to the Merced Police Department.
Officer Joshua Faith was helping a motorist with a troubled vehicle when a white Jeep making a wide turn hit the left rear end of his patrol car. After the Jeep struck the patrol car, it kept driving. Faith then chased the vehicle for about a quarter of a mile before he was able to stop it.
