Brammo Cuts Price on Enertia Electric Motorcycle

Posted by: BILLMCC66 on: 04/05/2010 08:31 AM in Motorcycles [ Print ]

The makers of the Brammo Enertia announced a significant price cut on Tuesday, dropping the electric-powered motorcycle’s price from $11,995 to $7,995. Subtracting the value of a federal income tax incentive, the company pointed out, can bring the price down to $7,195.

It’s a substantial reduction, putting the Enertia in the vicinity of midsize, conventionally powered street bikes — the Suzuki V-Strom 650, for example, lists for $7,499. There’s still a sizable performance gap between gasoline engines and electric motors, but for a stylish, rechargeable commuter motorcycle, the Enertia seems to be a more reasonable choice than much of its electric competition. The Enertia is available through a handful of Best Buy stores on the West Coast, and directly from the company at brammo.com.

Craig Bramsher, the company’s founder and chief executive, said the price cut was due to advances in engineering and production:
